Live Food Large Woodies Tub (Approximately 25 woodies)
Pisces Woodies (Nauphotea cinerea)
Large Woodies are approximately 30mm long
Australian wood roaches or Woodies are a natural and highly nutritious food for many animals including lizards, turtles, frogs, large fish, mammals, and birds. They are very clean and are not known to carry disease organisms. In nature, woodies live in dry habitats under tree bark, leaf litter, or dead wood.
Woodies are an ideal addition to a varied diet. They are high in protein and contain beneficial roughage.
How to Feed
Pisces Woodie Tubs have an easy flip open lid that makes it simple to remove Woodies from the container using fingers or Komodo Feeding Tongs. Woodies can be sprinkled with Calcium Powder before presenting to your animals. Only feed enough woodies that will be eaten immediately.
Some people prefer to have a separate smaller terrarium (e.g. Komodo Plastic Terrariums) to place their animals in when they feed woodies. This can make it easier, especially for babies or the elderly, to catch their woodies before they run away and hide.
Woodies are suitable for bearded dragons, blue tongue lizards, geckos, other reptiles, turtles, chickens, ducks and other poultry, fish such as cichlids, barramundi and Oscars, wild birds, spiders, scorpions, millipedes, centipedes, and other insect-eating animals.
Storage & Care
Pisces Woodies should be provided with fresh Aquaload and Gutload every few days. These water and food sources should be constantly available to maximize the longevity of the woodies and provide maximum nutrition to your animals.
Gutload is eaten by the Woodies and then consumed by your animals before the woodies digest it, providing a valuable boost of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals in addition to the nutrition in the woodies themselves. This makes the woodies "Gutloaded."
For longer storage, Pisces Cricket Keepers are ideal. They also have handy feeding tubes that the woodies "hide" in, which makes them easy to catch and feed out.
Woodies prefer to be between 20 to 25 degrees Celcius. Avoid poisonous fumes pesticides and cleaning supplies near Woodies.
Please note that the number of woodies in the tubs will vary slightly, but should not be below the stated number.
