Bulk Small Woodies (approx 2000 woodies)
Packed in a calico bag - transfer immediately to bulk insect housing after arrival
Pisces Woodies (Nauphotea cinerea)
Small Woodies are approximately 9mm long
Australian wood roaches or Woodies are a natural and highly nutritious food for many animals including lizards, turtles, frogs, large fish, mammals, and birds. They are very clean and are not known to carry disease organisms. In nature, woodies live in dry habitats under tree bark, leaf litter, or dead wood.
Woodies are an ideal addition to a varied diet. They are high in protein and contain beneficial roughage.
Woodies are suitable for bearded dragons, blue tongue lizards, geckos, other reptiles, turtles, chickens, ducks and other poultry, fish such as cichlids, barramundi and Oscars, wild birds, spiders, scorpions, millipedes, centipedes, and other insect-eating animals.
How to Feed
Remove Woodies from the container using fingers or Komodo Feeding Tongs. Woodies can be sprinkled with Calcium Powder before presenting to your animals. Only feed enough woodies that will be eaten immediately.
Some people prefer to have a separate smaller terrarium (e.g. Komodo Plastic Terrariums) to place their animals in when they feed woodies. This can make it easier, especially for babies or the elderly, to catch their woodies before they run away and hide.
Storage & Care
Pisces Woodies should be provided with fresh Aquaload and Gutload every few days. These water and food sources should be constantly available to maximize the longevity of the woodies and provide maximum nutrition to your animals. Woodie and Cricket Food is ideal to feed daily to your insects.
Gutload is eaten by the Woodies and then consumed by your animals before the woodies digest it, providing a valuable boost of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals in addition to the nutrition in the woodies themselves. This makes the woodies "Gutloaded."
Woodies prefer to be between 20 to 25 degrees Celcius. Avoid poisonous fumes pesticides and cleaning supplies near Woodies.
Please note that the number of woodies will vary slightly, but should not be below the stated number.
Bulk Pack Care: Bulk Packs of woodies should be immediately released into Pisces Cricket Keepers (more than one may be necessary) or a large, plastic, bulk storage box.
Woodies need Gutload, Aquaload, and shelter to maximise their shelf-life.
Fluon Insect Barrier is useful for painting on storage box walls and food bowls to contain the insects. Cardboard Egg Flats or Insect Apartments are ideal for providing shelter.
Please take care when unpacking your Insects. Sometimes other insects decide to enjoy life in our insect grow-rooms. Whilst every care is taken to ensure that no hitchhikers are present in our Live Food products, sometimes other species will be present. Feel free to contact us if you would like an identification.
